Making Money is the second book to feature Moist von Lipwig, an unfortunately named con artist, postmaster, indirect murderer, victim of hanging, and denizen of Discworld. Today I just read the first three-ish chapters, which feels incredibly familiar, but not stale or lazy, if you've read
Going Postal. Vetinari, the offhands dictator of Ankh- Morpork, approaches Moist with a job offer, to save him from his current predicament. The differences are:
- Moist is a respected postmaster, instead of wanted criminal
- His only other choice is not a deadly fall
- He is far more desperate to escape his life of boredom than he ever was to escape the noose
This isn't the first time I've read the story, so I know what's coming next, but so far, Moist has just accepted the position at the helm of the Mint.
